Thinking Out Loud - Who are these guys?

The madcap antics of Thinking Out Loud were on view at the 1983 Edinburgh Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. Hundreds of performers were vying for audience - as well as a few pounds for fish and chips and a tin of beer - each day. And while they were not the toast of the festival that year, our heros, shown above, held their own for the most part and, when it was over, a couple of them were even still speaking to each other. Twenty five years ago - where did the time go?!

Thinking Out Loud at the Edinburgh Festival

Twenty-five years ago - on a stage in Edinburgh, Scotland, the New Haven, Connecticut-based band Thinking Out Loud decided to leave the stages of local dives like Brothers and The Grotto, and try their hand as a musical comedy troupe at the Edinburgh Festival. Every once in awhile, a few people were listening and even liked them!

After four nights at the historic Whitney Barn, where there was one show where almost every seat was filled - at that only after the resourceful band removed three back rows of seating - Thinking Out Loud was off to the 1983 Edinburgh Festival!

So, it was 25 years ago that Thinking Out Loud, a musical, comedy, desperate performance troup from New Haven, Connecticut, went to the Edinburgh Festival to become rich and famous and buy their moms new houses. Didn't quite work out that way...
